YES! It’s out!
And I’m proud to say You Can’t Call It “It”! was the first place on the internet you’d find it.
Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher’s baby girl, sister to Olive, is named
Elula Lottie Miriam Cohen.
Thanks to a loyal reader comment we’ve known for a while, but I waited (begrudgingly) out of respect for the family to confirm.
Elula is a very unusual Hebrew name, referring to the month that roughly corresponds to the month of August. It reminds me in sound of Isla’s name, and of my own daughter’s as well, the unrelated Eulalia/e.
Bet you won’t find the full name anywhere else. ;-)
What do you think of Elula? Could it be the next Isla or Olive?

You have a daughter Eulalia? I had a great-aunt Eulalia (we called her Tia Lali, like lollipop). She came to America from Spain in 1930 with my grandfather Emilio and the rest of their siblings: Anastasio, Alicia, Isabel, Augustin, and Evangaline. I’ve never seen an Eulalia anywhere else before!!
Our daughter is Eulalie, and yes, we call her Lolly as a nickname, and Lollipop too.
St. Eulalia is the patron saint of Barcelona, and has roots in France where her father’s family is from as well. It’s originally from the Greek, and means “well spoken.”
How great! Thanks so much for the info!!
Congrats ;D I was so curious!! Unfortunately, i’m not that thrilled about Elula…
I really prefer Eulalie/a.
While Eulalie/a is hardly common, it is recognized by most name nerds. This is a name that hardly anyone appears to be knowledgeable of. It doesn’t help that it’s spelling just looks wrong, and the pronunciation is somewhat tricky. It’s probably full of sentiment for them though, which is lovely. Between this and Winter Morgan, I think you’re sitting on a small pile of celeb baby names!
How do you pronounce Elula?
Not knowing how to pronounce it, I can’t see it catching on like Isla or Olive – both of which I like a lot.
As far as the pronunciation, I can only imagine it’s something like “eh-LOO-lah.” “EE” loo-lah would be spelled with an I up front. How else could it be said. We’ll have to wait for confirmation to be sure!
I think a slightly more British pronunciation might be something like EL-you-lah. Barring that, I would think it would be eh-LOO-lah. Rather spellbinding, isn’t it?
How is it pronounced?
It’s a pretty name, but it DOES seem very much like a misspelling of Eulalia. I don’t see it catching on, although I think Lula has a lot of potential to get popular.
I think it’s lovely. And she is adorable! Reciting the names of the whole family has a wonderful ring to it. Go Elula!
Weird, I’m Jewish and I’ve never heard the name Elula. Ever. Do you pronounce it El-Lulah? Kind of a bummer cause Olive is so awesome.
I can’t say I’m a huge fan of Elula or Lottie, but I love love love LOVE Miriam!
My name is Eulalee, I love the babys name.
