It’s been a while since my last Ohdeedoh post. Instead of a complete list, here are the ones I particularly salivated over. Such great taste over there always.

Trajan! Oh, my graphic designer’s heart just leapt when I read that! I seriously wanted to name my son Caslon and my usually amicable husband said absolutely not. And a co worker friend told me it was too much as well, and he is more flamboyant than most.
Loving

We almost had a Stella, Ruby, or Helen. Thought about Coral. And just really love Eloise, Evie, and Agnes.
We didn’t end up with any boys, but I’ll always have a soft spot for Leo. I really wanted that one! Augustine is nice too.
I love Genivieve and Grey and I’d use either one, but only as a middle name. Jonah is cool, and I like Rio for either gender. Lovejoy is fun, but it feels a little Simpson-y to me.
Claudine was my Great-Grandmothers name. My Grandfather (Claude) says she was adopted as a baby – at which time she was Mary – and renamed Claudine after her adoptive father (who was also named Claud[e]). I think it’s a shame that he didn’t carry the Claud- tradition on, because it’s a tradition which lasted (at the very least) three generations. If I liked my Grandfather I would consider using it myself one day, but I wouldn’t want to think of a Grandfather I disliked every time my child’s name was used.
I like Grey as well. If we’d had a boy, we actually thought of using that as a middle name in lieu of Gregory, my father’s name. Leo Gregory just sounded too much like the name of a pope to me, and you can get to Grey if you remove some letters from the middle of Gregory. It was an idea we never had to make a decision on, ultimately.
Also, I hear you on the great family name/undesirable namesake dilemma. We encountered that too.
Leo Grey is kind of awesome. What did you name your daughter (if you don’t mind sharing)?
We named her Iris Estella.
Loved especially Coral and Lua, but Rio Sienne is a little bit to descriptive to me ;D
love. Eloise was on our list for our second, and Magnolia was on our short list for our first. they have since found places on our dolls. What a great source for a group of amazing names!
I love the picture, so sweet with those perfect little shoes and amazing name. Love all the long and uncommon names for girl, like Magnolia, Juniper and Rosemary. And I’m happy to see a boy Indiana, I think it’s just such a fun name.
Maeve Rosalind and Rosemary Agnes are so gorgeous, I just had to comment! I also like Althea, Annabel, Eloise + Josephine, Leo, and Silas.
Magnolia Kate?! Could it get any better than that? Wow. Love. Juniper and Maeve are on my list. Althea is one that I’m definitely warming up to quite a bit. Some great boy choices as well. I have an Asher and I lobbied hard for Silas for my last child. Dex and Ezra? God love these parents for taking the chance on those great names. And I’m a Grey fan, too. I’m trying hard to understand the Ambrose love I’ve seen recently. I’m not giving it a thumbs down, because so many people are singing its praises, but I need to be enlightened, I think…
My husband was to be named Magnolia if he had been a girl. Personally I am not a fan, although I do like the cute nickname potential of Maggie.
I love Augustine for a boy, but Husband tells me that it sounds like a girl’s name. And so the vetoes continue… Sigh.
Many girls names to love in this list. Thanks for sharing!
I just read this on-line:
Top Chef contender Richard Blais and his wife Jazmin, already the parents of daughter Riley, now 2½, have just expanded their family.
“Welcome Embry Lotus Blais!” the Atlanta-based Bravo chef Tweeted about his new daughter…
Embry? Lotus? Wow!
I really like Lotus. Not feelin’ Embry, though.

I love seeing our Lila G. in your Ohdeedoh list, Elisabeth! SOme really great names on that list – Love Magnolia and Mirabelle. And how fabulous was Mirabelle’s nursery?
Off the subject a bit, but since we moved to TX we run into little girls named Avery CONSTANTLY. To the point that it’s upsetting. I would never tell my little Avery this, but I wish I could go back in time to the hospital room and beg myself to name her something, anything, other than Avery.
Aw, I’m so sorry to hear that. Brush it off though, stand tall. It’s not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things, as much as I like to pretend that names are the most important thing in the world. Think of it this way: your new neighbors have great taste!
