Sorry to keep you waiting.
I just came across a set of quads named Reid, Cameron, Brady, and Trey. Two boys, two girls. Guess who’s who?
So, what do you name your four? Remember to keep the gender split equal.
REDO! As Patricia rightly pointed out, I pulled the wrong names. From where or how, I HAVE NO IDEA. Ten points if you can tell me where the bottom list came from!

You know you’re getting low on the list when “Baby” is one of the names. Wow. I hope she marries a dancer named Johnny!
I’m guessing Reed & Cameron are girls, Brady and Trey are boys, but this is exactly why I hate unisex names on opposite-sex multiples.
My picks:
Hazel & Bridgette, Heath & Gideon.
Again, names I actually like, but can’t use for one reason or another. DH & I really love Heath, but we knew one in college who married a girl named Amy, which is our daughter’s sometimes-nickname, so it seems weird.
Nadine, Katia, Irving and Alden
My Re-do
Alden, Bruno, Sloane and Ember
Wow… lots of creative spellings in this set. My picks would be:
Alden Heath
Gerard Cale
Ingrid Nadine
Hazel Annalise
OR
Nico Judah
Finn Porter
Lara Adeline
Asha Bridgette
You could also do Darrion and Darian, London and London, Prince and Princess… of course, you might then want to start saving money for their therapy fund.
Where did you get this list of ’800s’ names? On the SSA website the list is totally different for 2009, beginning with 800 Tyree/Maliah down to 899 Dario/Evelynn. I noticed that when I saw Maximus on your list and recalled using it when we were looking at the 200s. Maximus on the above list is #850; on the SSA chart for 2009, it ranks 249. Backtracking, Maximus was #850 in 2000; just looked at the 800s at that time — and that’s what this list is.
My quads with current/2009 names ranking in the 800s are:
Mira Eileen
Livia Beatrice
Winston Harold
Gilbert Vaughn
I have no clue what happened! Could I have gotten the wrong year somehow? Was it a glitch on their part (likely not)? Thank Patricia.
yvonne, gideon, ingrid and reuben
Elisabeth – do you have any idea how many babies in the US would actually be born each year with a name, say, at no. 800 or 900 on the list? I just wonder how many people would actually call their child Baby or Unique?!
These lists are getting trickier, but there are a few gems, thankfully. My sibset:
Nico
Reuben
Paloma
Ingrid
Not sure about Ingrid, but most of the girl’s names I like on the list end in ‘a’, so clash a bit with Paloma (which I love), eg. Asha, Samara, Nikita, Sarina and Silvia.
On the *correct* list (sorry again!) Unique is ranked 929 and there were 285 babies born named Unique. Baby is an aberration, probably what was filled out for an unnamed baby on the birth certificate.
The SSA list allows you to search by percentage or number of births: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/
SSA now offers lists of EVERY name that was given to 5 or more babies in a given year. I LOVE this list — so interesting! – and refer to it often. To access this list, click, go to the SSA babyname website; click on “background Information” (left side); then click on “Beyond the top 1000 names”; which will bring you here: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/limits.html — where you can click on “single file” and download a whole new world of baby names. (It’s kind of like Dorothy going over the rainbow
— all that data we’ve not had access to before.) And then questions about names you didn’t even know you had can be answered, so that you can see that in 2009 285 girls and 17 boys were named Unique, whereas in 1990, for example, only 123 girls and 8 boys were given that ‘name’.
From the new list:
Reuben
Gilbert
Beatrice
Vera
I’d guess that Reid and Cameron were the girls, and Brady and Trey were the boys.. that sort of makes the most sense to me!
I’d name the sibset ~
Vera Frances
Edith Rosalie
Reuben Alfred
Vaughn Marcelo
… with an honourable mention for Beatrice Emelia
Sylas
Alden
Mira
Tess
Aww, I wanted Hazel off the original list.
Beatrice, Vera, Alfred, Samson
I’d guess boys: Reid & Brady? Girls: Cameron & Trey?
Cameron could be girlified with the nickname Cami. I can’t figure out if Trey or Reid is the 2nd girl though. Trey sounds masculine, but I guess has the ‘girlier’ ending sound, compared to Reid, who I was tempted to switch to a girl.
These are my picks:
Samson, Dario, Marianna & Livia
Since I follow this multiples blog, I won’t comment on the names. Given my well, non-fondness for unisex names, I have to say, I was unimpressed when I heard them
My quads…
Gilbert Cael (nn Gib)
Callum Zaire (nn Cal)
Beatrice Rayne (nn Bea)
Mira Saige
Actually, I love these
Seamus, Vaughn, Rosalie, Beatrice
Mira Frances
Edith Marianna
Alfred Ignacio
Gilbert Micah
Ok, I thought these lists were looking bleak for awhile, but there were definitely still a few real gems. I’m going with:
Alden Fisher
Callum Leandro
Rosalie Meadow
Vera Damaris
Edith Janet
Rosalie Tess
Alfred Fisher
Gilbert Jensen
These are getting hard.
P.S. I’m guessing Cameron and Brady are girls, Trey and Reid are boys.
Nigel Reuben Marcel
Winston Seamus Bruno
Edith Damaris Raina
Frances Amirah Beatrice
As for the real life quads, Reid and Cameron are the girls, Trey and Brady are the lads, methinks.
zavier beckham
brenton gilbert
livia rubi
beatrice evelynn
I did a set for both lists because I could! I love the “real” list more.
Ireland Karissa
Belinda Rosalie
Callum Elvis
Gilbert Alden
Ingrid Jolie
Lisette Hazel
Gideon Royce
Samson Cale
Niko Sidney
Kael Zaire
Janice Carina
Mina Beatrice
Fake list:
Aubrey Phoenix
Courtney Blaze
Rita Hazel
Lara Yvonne
Rosalie Meadow
Ariella Rayne
Samson Cael
Quinten Seamus
Elisabeth, as I mentioned above, the first list you printed is the list of names ranking in the 800s in 2000. How you got it rather than the list for 2009, I have no idea. Do you copy these lists from the SSA website and then put them into the form you’re using on your blog? If so, somehow you got into 2000 instead of 2009. But anyway, it’s no big deal. It’s interesting to compare the 2 lists: I like the one for 2009 better!
Alma India Rosalie
Edith Livia Damaris
Alfred Blaze Marcel
Samson Ignacio Vaughn
I love all of these first names… And I love how both the boys got fiery middles
Okay, since I did the original list, here’s my take on the REAL one:
Callum Alden
Ronin Vaughn
Livia Rosalie
Aracely Carina
(I actually really love all of these…)
OR
Nigel Gilbert
Augustin Fisher
Mina Beatrice
Frances Vera
Anyone else notice that Lyric switched genders, from the girls (#800) in 2000 to the boys (#880) in 2009? Interesting.
Libby Frances
Beatrice Sloane
Callum Ignacio
Seamus Coleman
Callum Fisher (Cal)
Samson Malaki (Sonny)
Charity Frances
Evelynn Rayne
Callum Winston
Bronson Harold
Libby Beatrice
Rosalie Tess
Libby, Evelin, Sylas, and Alden.
I always start from the bottom and work my way up, write down the list of names I would consider, play around to make my 4 names, and then read the introduction. I was a little puzzled, because I knew I had seen some of these names before!
So I did the wrong list first, then the correct one. Twice the fun–no complaints here!
My choices are:
Beatrice Vera
Raina Amirah
Gilbert Ignacio
Vaughn Salvatore
If Amirah would have been spelled Amira, I would have chosen it as a first name. The extra “n” just throws me off, but it is still a lovely name.
I adore Gilbert, considered it for both kids, but don’t know if it is quite right for my family. Gilbert Blythe will always be dreamy to me, lol.
Frances Rosalie
Beatrice Vera
Alfred Jensen
Nigel Winston
Ohh I think I liked the fake list better! Here are my quads — I went vintage with stuffy first names and more fanciful middles:
Beatrice Livia
Frances India
Harold Alden
Gilbert Winston
From the right list: Beatrice Millie, Vera Edith, Ethen Seamus and Samson Cristofer.
From the wrong list: Tatiana Jasmyn, Hazel Annalise, Matteo Samson, Gideon Seamus,
I was really torn between Millie and Tess but finally came up with:
Frances Rosalie (nn Francie or Frannie)
Millie Beatrice
Callum Heath (nn Cal)
Finn Gideon
FWIW, Frances is actually a top contender if baby #3 turns out to be another girl (it’s a family name for us). She’d go by Francie or Frannie.
Real list:
Alma Frances
Edith Marianna
Winston Broderick
Alfred Reuben
Fake list:
Neal Gerard
Dominik Finn
Ingrid Bridgette
Reina Berenice
I really love Magdalena, but I couldn’t make it work.
Carmelo
Samson (Sonny)
Pamela
Vera
Fake list:
Reuben
Seamus
Ingrid
Rita
Ethen Todd, Vera Rubi, Winston Vaughn, and Rosalie Saige.
Real List:
Rosalie Beatrice
Edith Maryjane
Bruno Ronin
Agustin Alfred
Decoy ~ Pretending like I’m a German ex-pat in Argentina:
Magdalena Paloma
Ingrid Annalise
Samson Dominik
Nico Reuben
This is my favourite list yet!
Beatrice Vera Livia
Mary-Jane Frances
Gibert Winston Salvatore
Alfred Rueben Seamus ‘Freddie’
I am loving this list muh better than the last few.
Beatrice and Frances are on our long list.
I love love love! Addison for a boy but would never use it in life bc it is to overrun by girls. However, a friend of mine did name her babyboy Addison Scott earlier this year. Yay!!
Also Seamus has alway intrigued me, as does Ignacio.
Beatrice Vera
Frances Rayne
Addison Blaze
Gilbert Vaughn
I had to go for a totally different first name theme on this one! Apologies to my existing child (and soon, children!) for ignoring his naming style.
Here are my vaguely Victorian, the-sun-never-sets-on-the-empire, choices!
Alfred Winston Hezekiah
Harold Gilbert Samson
India Livia Beatrice
Alma Belinda Rosalie
Jensen and Fisher;
India and Meadow
Seamus Alfred (“Sea” shay)
Callum Nigel (“Cal”)
Beatrice Eileen (“Bea”)
Edith Sloane (“Edi” ee-dee)
or
Meadow Alma
Vera Eileen
Alfred Vaughn (Alfie)
Gilbert Callum (Gil)
this one was way too hard for my OCD brain to put 4 siblings together!!! i liked several names individually but not for four siblings including middle names!
Lylah Sloane
Tess Evelynn
Coleman Sylas
Fisher Vaughn
Again, names I’d really use (although I’m skeptical if my husband would bite on some of these):
Beatrice Mira
Edith Frances
Harold Seamus (nn Hal)
Sidney Callum (nn Sid)
Harold Winston
Alfred Todd
Frances Rosalie
Edith Tess
Harry, Alfie, Francie, and Edie.
Right
Alma Frances
Evelynn Beatrice
Alfred Bronson
Harold Jensen
Wrong
Jaxson Finn
Nico Maximus
Paloma Annalise
Ingrid Magdalena
India, Tess, Gilbert and Harold.
I think I liked the wrong list better! Some very interesting spellings on the girl’s list this time around. My choices:
Angeline Ember
Deborah Eileen
Marcelo Reuben
Seamus Elian
Rosalie Katrina
Beatrice Leia
Seamus Vaughn
Callum Broderick
I’m going for Rosalie and Evelynn, Jensen and Ronin. I would never use the boys names but they aren’t bad. It was a struggle to find names I liked, for either girls or boys, from this list!
Harold Winston
Alfred Callum
Frances Aimée
Marianna Edith
Harry, Alfie, Fran, and May.
My list!
Vaughn Gilbert, Winston, Cael, Rosalie Frances, and Beatrice Vera
Ernest and Seamus for the boys, although I am tempted by Samson and Seamus, despite the popularity.
For the girls, Rosalie Vera Meadow and Edith, who as yet doesn’t have any middles.
So, Ernest, Seamus, Rosie and Edie.
Rosalie, Katrina, Bruno and Callum.
Rosalie Frances “Rose”
Katrina Beatrice “Kat”
Winston DeAngelo
Vaughn Salvatore
REAL- BOY: Brenton Gaige (hate the way Gaige is spelled however!)
Sylas Malaki (again with the spelling lol)
GIRL: Lylah Angeline
Elianna Saige (ugh spelling..!)
WRONG- BOY: Bronson Gerard
Efrin Jovani
GIRL: Graciela Yvonne
Giovanna Elyse
Fun!
Edith Rosalie (actually on our list!!)
India Frances
Niko Augustin
Callum Vaughn
Callum Abdiel
Gilbert Hezekiah
Rosalie Damaris
Beatrice “Betsy” Eileen
The middle names are random literary likes. The Bible mentions a good king Hezekiah, and I kind of like that. Abdiel is the angel who debated with Satan in Milton’s “Paradise Lost.” Damaris is an obscure biblical name I’ve always found pretty. And I love Eileen because of the 80′s song!
Rosie, Betsy, Cal, and Gil
Hana Calleigh Saige
Rosalie Vera Mattie
Quinten Cael – “Quin”
Marcel Addison
