Ohdeedohkey

by You Can't Call It "It"! on February 3, 2010

Style-conscious mamas and papas from the website Ohdeedoh have children.  Behold, their names.  Swoon at Gavril– I may have to steal that.

How, pray tell, do these people keep their lovely homes so spotless?  I know I’ve been remiss in posting regularly, just know that I’ve been busy cleaning raisins out of the wipes box and turning the house upside down in search of my cell phone, only to find it in the laundry basket.  I hope to be back in the saddle soon at YCCII.  Thank you, loyal readers, for continuing to check in every day and for your letters of support!

I like Gavril, and Amaia. The street I live on is “Indigo Sky”, and I find those two names a bit much when put together like that. But Hazel Juniper is interesting.

Glad you found your cell phone. I’ve recently found mine in a kitchen cupboard and the bathtub (?!) :)

Sounds like you’ve been busy – and leading a parallel existence to me! Ahhhhh motherhood.
I’m sorry but I can not see the appeal in Gavril. I actually know a Gavin, who everyone calls Gav, and his exgirlfriend was called Avril, so to me it sounds like some weird TomKat/Brangelina/Bennifer smush!! Gavril also sounds like it could be the name of a character in Lord of the Rings! Gandalf’s brother, perhaps. Or Galadriel’s father.

Tove, for a girl? Wow, that one really got my attention!

Hazel Juniper must have a hip, name-nerd kind of mum, I reckon. Very cool name, without being too “out there” or “weird” :)

Agreed on Hazel Juniper! That is the name of a hipster kid if ever I saw one.

My dad just pointed out to me that it is botanical overload – both are names of trees!! I never thought of that. I guess though if Johnny Depp can have a Lily Rose, Hazel Juniper is no worse! ;)

In Scandinavia, Tove is a girl’s name. I’ve never heard of a boy Tove.

Thanks Kira, I’ve never heard it before! To my un-Scandinavian ears, it sounds like something from a Tolkien book, or a surname. And it sounds strong, like it should be on a boy (like Rove or Grove), but when you know the meaning is Dove, it makes sense that it’s a girl’s name!

Tove is nice to see! It’s a Norse name meaning ‘dove’ and is so dated in Norway, but I like it on a little American girl ^^

Winter has to be my favourite from the girls list. I didn’t like to many of them, but Winter is lovely!
Amsden is definitely the most interesting on the boys list, I whis I knew the story behind! I’ve never heard of Amsden before, but it just sounds like yet another surname while remaining unique, which is a very good thing :)
Alistar, Enzo and Liad are also interesting. I wonder where Liad comes from…

So nice to hear what Tove is all about! It sounded like something from a Tolkien book, or a surname, to my un-Norse ears – I have never heard it before :)

Love Enzo – have never met one in real life.

Alistair and Declan fascinate me.

Love the combo Mark Logan

Sabrina and Cassandra – great for twins. Same feel, similar sounds without being matchy or rhyming.

Amelie, Maeve, Oriana – very nice indeed.

Does anyone else notice the problem with poor Ida’s name? “Ida Rocket” and I’d a car and I’d a truck and I’d a digger…. Poor girl!

I do heart Alistair though :)
