The upper echelons of British society these days sure do favor Freddie. There were at least five little Fredericks in recent London Telegraph birth announcements, plus several big brothers and a Fergus Freddie. Other hits include Clementine, Montague, Otto, Tatiana and Willoughby.

NO, NO, NO!
Argh, Frederick is my number one baby name, they can’t have it. Raphael is my number 2 and people are starting to talk about it as well. Stay away from my list
Sorry, um… lovely names, especially Romilly.
The Telegraph makes my heart race.
In terms of combinations, I admire Beatrice Poppy (one of my favorite Beatrice combinations), Beatrix Mary, Betty Frances Beverley, Carlotta Lucie (though I prefer Lucie as a nickname for Lucetta), Clementine Susannah (though I prefer Susanna), Gwendolyn Mary (though I prefer Gwendolen and even the elaborated Gwendoline), Harriet Eve, Henrietta Jane, Lucinda Marion May (Alliteration allures me.), Niamh Isobel Margaret, Sylvia Joan Margaret (though I strongly prefer the flow of Sylvia Margaret Joan), Frederick Thomas, Gilbert Reginald Stanley (This reigns supreme!), Lawrence Peter James (though I strongly prefer Laurence), Otto Benjamin, and Rufus William Edmund.
In terms of individual names, I endorse polyamory.
Loving the sibset of Violet, Phoebe, Daisy and Polly. Birds and flowers? What a lovely set of girls.
I’ve been so busy that I haven’t checked the Telegraph recently.
Re: Aurelia Jinty Broad
I sincerely hope Broad is a family name.
Love Beatrice Poppy, and Carlotta Lucie as well as her sib set names: Cécile, Eliza and Evie. Pearl Amelia Roseis gorgeous but the sib name is odd. Dame Edith?
I mentioned Clementine to my husband and he immediately started singing (in his best Huckleberry Hound voice) “Oh my darlin,’ oh my darlin,’ oh my darlin’ Clementine…”
So you see what I’m dealing with.
Billy and Lily?
Iona Kitty? That’s a daring combination.
Arthur, Matilda and Primrose – sweet!
Frederic is near the top of our list for a second son, too, Julia. But a) I think we’re done having kids and b) while we love Freddie, we’re not sure about Fred on an adult.
Then again, I met a dashing adult with a similar name the other day … so maybe he’d simply use the whole thing. It isn’t any harder to say “Frederick” than it is to say “Sebastian.”
I love the sibset of Anastasia, Octavia, Antonia and William as well as sisters Cecile, Eliza, Evie and Carlotta.
Lovely names!
Frederick is very high up on our list should this baby be a boy. I have the same misgivings about it that Abby does, though. I adore Frederick, but I know I wouldn’t be able to control what other people call him, and I’m just not sure I could stomach having such a lovely appellation shortened to “Fred” all the time.
Other favorite combos from this list are Clementine Susannah, Beatrice Poppy, Niamh Isobel Margaret, and Gilbert Reginald Stanley. I would love to see Gilbert make a comeback — I’d use it myself if it didn’t sound so funny with our last name.
As for the bad ones…
Iona Kitty? Yes, I own a kitty, too. Two of them, in fact. Really, Iona is beautiful, but this is one you DEFINITELY shouldn’t use if the middle or last name is a noun.
Dame Edith (listed as a sibling for Pearl Amelia Rose)… I’m hoping this is a title instead of a first name, but I’m not sure one so young could have earned the title of Dame.
And Ella, Isla, and Isis sounds like a confusing set of sisters!
I LOVE the sibset Anastasia, Antonia, Octavia and William as well…traditional yet a bit different..I wonder if there are shorter versions though….
