Jotted down the names in a doctor’s office magazine today. Artsy mamas who are engaged with their children and super chefs all it seems. It’s nice to see evidence of name nerdiness in unexpected places! I particularly like the Austen-meets-Wharton sibset of seven, the somewhat odd H clan from Hawaii, and an Oona in the wild. Come across any great siblings’ names lately?
In no discernable order, but listed within each sibset from oldest to youngest:
Ethan, Elliott and Emily in Virginia
Wills, Campbell and Grady from Georgia
Nicholas and Chaz, Nevada
Zoe and Zach live in Utah
Sullivan and Theo hail from Indiana
Natalie and Audrey from Washington
Louie, Lexie and Elena live in California
Holley, Collin and Bridget from Texas
Lydia, Philip, Susanna, Mary, Timothy, Daniel and Charity from Illinois
Hugh, Hunter, Hatrick and Heath, Hawaii
Anna and Maria from Nebraska
From Nowheresville:
Georgia and Oona
Ryan and Bryce, twins
Above: Hugo and Dylan I, 2006, Loretta Lux

Oona!!! I am enthralled with this name, but it gets lost with my last name. I’m happy there is a little Oona out there. It is an add pairing with Georgia, though. But I really won’t complain.
The only interesting sibset I can think of in real life has a Scandanavian flair:
Brynja, Lars, and Torben
Hatrick!?
Hugh and Heath are great. Hunter is fine. But a hat trick is when a hockey player scores three goals in one game. It strikes me as quite bizarre.
Then again, I love the sound of Patrick but dislike the nickname Pat.
Hatrick … maybe it could grow on me …
But do you like “Hat” any better than Pat for a nickname? I had the same reaction reading this list – that name seriously stuck out and not in a good way. It’s way too sports-referencey for my tastes. I guess “Rick” is an option for a nickname for both this creative name and Patrick, although I’m personally not a Rick fan either.
I thought the same thing about Hatrick! It especially stuck out to me since he is the third – perhaps another unique twist on naming the third child…? Not one I’ll go around suggesting though.
Audrey is really growing on me… do you think it’s poised to become too trendy though?
I think Audrey and Natalie is a great sibset.
Ooh, I do like the seven from Illinois. They managed to give all their kids biblical names while sounding very literary and sophisticated in the process.
Some real-life siblings I’ve encountered:
Lydia, Evangeline, and John
Sadie and Catherine (they were Salvadoran, which you probably wouldn’t guess from their names)
Sylvia and Beverly (they looked to be about 7 and 5)
Hector and Sophia
Oona’s so mystical!
Mystical’s a good word for it, Paul. If I could mix and match, I’d take Oona, Lydia, Philip and Hugh for myself– only slightly adjusting our current style.
I don’t know that Audrey is super trendy. It is in the top 100 now, but it has staying power. Audrey and Natalie seem perfectly balanced and evoke Hepburn and Wood.
Emmy Jo– Nice list! Sylvia and Beverly is SO unexpected, especially Beverly. I quite like it on a little girl.
ShellyOK– Brynja, Lars, and Torben is to die for. Brynja is completely new to me. Melikes.
About Hatrick: I can only hope that it’s a family name? Upon googling it seems possible. What’s with all those Hs in Hawaii though? It seriously backs you into a corner. And four boys!
I should say, I kind of like all the Hs in this case. All so different, yet oddly compatible. Anyone sense a revitalization of the uniform sibset starting with the same initial?
I hope there is not a revival of same initial sibsets! Mine are Cassandra and Natasha. I had Alana picked out for a possible third, but we never had one.
Cassandra and Natasha are lovely for sisters!
Someone actually named their kid Hatrick.. Isn’t that a hockey term or something? You probably won’t see this. I don’t get on my FB page very often.
