Petal Blossom Rainbow Oliver.

She’s here!  The third jubilantly named daughter for chef Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools, Petal Blossom Rainbow Oliver made her debut early this morning in London.  She joins big sisters Poppy Honey and Daisy Boo.

Petal and Blossom seem redundant to me, both mirroring each other and the sisters, but I like the flow together.  Would have skipped Rainbow– takes an over-the-top name with some charm into Fifi Trixibelle territory.

HOW did I miss this one on Complete the Celebrity Sibset you ask?  No idea, because I’ve been anticipating this.  So I ask now, what would you have named her?  I have a penchant for Primrose, Marigold, and Lavender– though not together in one name.  What about:

Primrose Ottilia

Marigold Charm

Lavender Lucy

I happen to love all of Jamie Oliver’s children’s names just the way they are. Soft and sweet and fanciful. So many parents overthink names into harshness when a light touch could be more effective. Give me dewdrops over thunderstorms any day.

I didn’t even know they were expecting! Now how did I miss that? I actually love his kids names, so fun and happy. I might have preferred just Blossom Rainbow (since it’s not really fair she gets 3 names when the other girls only got 2!). Lemme see, if I were them I might have named her Violet Peach, Lily Bliss, or Clover Peach… yes, Clover Peach would have been my pick. By the way, I love Marigold Charm!

Clover is great, but remember the last name is Oliver. Clover Oliver sounds hard.

I do like Petal, actually and find it rather fresh. I should have made that more clear. The whole combo is just a bit silly, but Petal on its own is soft and lovely to me.

I agree with this. The whole combo doesn’t sound as nice as it could have.

Petal also seems not quite perfect next to Daisy and Poppy. Another flower may have been nice, I like your suggestion of Primrose.

Aww, Petal’s cute! Not my cup of molasses, exactly but I don’t mind Poppy & Daisy’s names much. This one feels different though, Why not some other distinct flower? Petal seems awfully generic to me compared. Maybe it’s just me. I would have named her Dahlia Blossom Rainbow Oliver (or Marigold, Liana or even Petunia, which seems right up their alley) But that’s my only major problem with the name, generic Petal following flower specific Poppy & Daisy? Weird.

oh darn, you’re right about Clover. I like Lola’s idea of Petunia. What about Pansy? It’s got the y ending. Hmmm, Pansy Pie seems up their ally.

I think Zinnia Lark Oliver would be an awesome name. I like Petal, not crazy about Blossom or Rainbow (especially together).

I love Marigold — what pretty name that would be.

Mr. & Mrs. Naked Chef seem to like that -y ending, so I might have guessed they’d go for something like Tansy, Holly or Lily. (Or Pansy…though I’m not sure if the slang meaning applies in the UK.) And I agree w/ Lola, Petunia would have been adorable as well.

Honey and Boo are both terms of endearment, so for a middle name I would have guessed names like Angel, Bird, Doll, Sugar.

Combinations? Maybe Tansy Sugar, or Lily Doll.

They seem like a lovely couple wiht a fun sense of naming but Petal Blossom Rainbow isn’t to my tastes. My main issue with the name is the same as Lola’s, Petal just seems too generic compared to Poppy and Daisy. I’m guessing it’s not the same in States but in the UK, Petal is sometimes used as a mock term of endearment; think: ‘alright Petal?’ – so I find her up front even more ridiculous because of that.

I could have done without the addition of Rainbow too, personally I think it adds to the name’s overall feeling of juvenille silliness, particularly since the other girls only have two names a piece. Saying that, Jools Oliver refered to her eldest daughter as Poppy Honey Rosie in her book which confused me as it’s always reported in the press as Poppy Honey…

Sticking with their overtly fanciful-floral theme, I would personally rename Petal something like:
Lily Loveday
Lily Honeysuckle
Flora Daphne Marigold
Tansy Tulip Marigold
Camellia Jasmine Joy

Personally I really like the idea of Violet Aster or Flora Clementine but I think these combinatinations would probably be too subtle for the Oliver’s tastes!

My sister came up with Rosie Love, which I thought went rather well!

Rosie Love works really well with the sibling set(as long as Rosie isn’t part of Poppy’s name that is) although, it does remind me of the brand ‘Jonny loves Rosie’ but that is of no consequence.

I thought of Lily Larkspur earlier which would be really cute! I thought of Plum too, which I think would fit well – something like Peony Plum perhaps?…

I don’t know about the name Petal. It reminds me of the character from The Shipping News by Annie Proulx. I can’t quite remember but think she was simple? Or promiscuous? Or both? (Cate Blanchett played Petal in the movie of the book).

I love a lot of the suggestions. Camellia Jasmine Joy, Tansy Sugar, and Zinnia Lark. All fab.

Here is my attempt:

Lilac Bumblebee
Rose Darling
Zinnia Bunty
Posey Blossom

My…word. Part of me loves this, and part of me feels like I’m naming all of My Little Ponies.
